Bigfoot Moonrise
Hand-painted acoustic guitar created for the Billy Strings guitar contest for the Ionia Free Fair 2026.
Inspired by moonlit forests, Appalachian folklore, deep woods atmosphere, and the mystery surrounding Bigfoot legends, this piece transforms the guitar itself into part of the story.
The forest continues from the guitar body through the neck and headstock, creating one continuous woodland scene beneath a glowing moonlit sky.

Catch of the Day
Acrylic on canvas
Deep in the mountains, Bigfoot pauses beside a rushing stream after a successful morning of fishing. Inspired by wilderness, folklore, and the simple rhythms of nature, this painting imagines a quieter side of the legendary creature—one more interested in fresh trout than being discovered.

Billy Strings Guitar Project
In 2026, Karen Houghton Teeter was selected to create a second custom-painted guitar for the Billy Strings concert scavenger hunt event in Ionia, Michigan.
The design blends cosmic skies, northern forest imagery, and a playful Bigfoot character — themes that have become part of Karen’s signature ‘Northern Mysteries’ collection.

Caught at Horseshoe Falls
Acrylic on canvas
What began as a peaceful waterfall scene inspired by Horseshoe Falls in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula slowly evolved into something far more mysterious.
As the painting developed, a shadowy figure began to emerge behind the rushing water — turning the scene into a playful glimpse into the legend of Bigfoot hidden deep within the northern wilderness.
